PURPOSE: A polarization diffraction element and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve continuous productivity by performing manufacturing processes without a photolithography process and an etching process. CONSTITUTION: A base material(1) is composed of a transparent resin. A layer with a molecular orientation resolution is formed on one side of the base material. Concave parts and convex parts are continuously arranged to form a layer(15). Corresponding concave parts and corresponding convex parts are continuously arranged to form a layer. One layer has an optical anisotropy. The other layer has an optical isotropy.
