FLUID PUMPING CAPILLARY SEAL FOR A FLUID DYNAMIC BEARING

PURPOSE: A fluid pumping capillary seal for a fluid operating bearing is provided to enhance a reliability and performance of a disk drive memory system by improving a shock resistance and an oscillatory reaction. CONSTITUTION: A bearing(318) containing a fluid is formed between facing surfaces of a sleeve(304) and fixing shaft(302). A PCS retainer is located on an end part of the bearing in order to seal the fluid within a motor. A capillary seal element(320) having a fluid storing unit(322) is located on an opposing end of an axial direction of the motor. A pumping capillary seal system(310) and the capillary seal element supply an asymmetry sealing system. The fixing shaft is attached to not only the pumping capillary seal system but the capillary seal element. The fixing shaft can be attached to an upper cover for a stability of the added motor. A rotatable herb(308) and the sleeve rotate around a centerline axis of the fixing shaft.
