PURPOSE: A casting roll and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to relieve the stress of a mold surface and improve the durability of a hard plating layer. CONSTITUTION: A casting roll comprises a nickel plating layer(70) and a hard plating layer(90) which are formed in the cylindrical and lateral parts of a roll. In the nickel plating layer of the cylindrical part, both coarse texture and micro-texture(100) are formed. The diameter of the coarse texture is 0.5~1.0mm, the depth 50~200um, and the roughness 15um or greater.
