SOLUTION: When engine torque after torque increase T<SB>E+UP</SB>exceeds the engine maximum torque T<SB>EMAX</SB>, the synchronization of the one-way clutch F1 is accelerated since an engine torque increase T<SB>UP</SB>quantity is controlled by a pre-synchronization control means 110 and the clutch torque T<SB>C</SB>generated in a brake B1 for establishing a second speed gear stage according to the control of the engine torque increase T<SB>UP</SB>quantity. The actual output torque T<SB>OUT</SB>of an automatic transmission 10 can be quickly increased toward the final target output torque T<SB>OUT</SB>* after the synchronization, and a dead band can be eliminated.
