<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve luminance by suppressing spread of a spot in a cathode. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the DC short-arc discharge lamp, tungsten substantially free from easily electron emitting material is used as an electrode material of the cathode 11.
