<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving display quality by performing finer overdrive (OD) control without increasing a memory capacity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An operation device which operates and outputs an OD voltage and a prediction value of the next frame includes: a first comparator 21 which detects whether a start gradation value and an end gradation value are identical or not; a first lookup table (LUT) 24; a second LUT 25; an operator 23 which refers two LUT values and determines a middle output value for OD; a second comparator 26 which determines the relation between the output of the operator 23 and predetermined maximum and minimum values; a third LUT 27 for the calculation of an OD value which is referred according to outputs of the first and second comparators; a fourth LUT 28 for the calculation of the prediction value which is referred according to outputs of the first and second comparators; and a selector/data generator 22 which generates an OD output and a prediction output using outputs of the first comparator 21, the second comparator 26, and the operator 23.
