PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the deterioration of the image quality of compressed data by reducing the processing load of a CPU in the living room master unit of an intercom device. SOLUTION: A living room maser unit 20 of an intercom device 1 is configured to compress a digital video signal into first compressed data or second compressed data, based on a timing in which a field signal or a vertical synchronizing signal included in the output of video data 202 is outputted, and to switch the output destination of data to be outputted from a JPEG encoder 204, based on a timing in which a field signal or a vertical synchronizing signal is outputted. An intercom device is configured to automatically generate first compressed data or second compressed data based on a prescribed timing, and to automatically switch the output destination of the compressed data. Thus, it is not necessary for a CPU to generate and distribute JPEG data each time as necessary, and thereby the processing load of the CPU is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
