<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master cylinder capable of improving manufacturing efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: Formed in a stepped cylinder 15 are a cup-shaped boss portion 23 to which a reservoir 27 is connected and a communication path 52 which communicates the reservoir 27 with a large diameter pressure chamber 70, with a pressure reduction valve 75 not intervening therebetween, while not being braked.
