PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenolic resin for curing epoxy resin which can use a vegetable originating component as a raw material and can keep its modulus of elasticity low while keeping various properties (strength, heat resistance, moisture resistance, etc.) of the molded and cured epoxy resin. SOLUTION: The phenolic resin for curing epoxy resin comprises a compound represented by formula (1).
