<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method useful for effective extraction and evaluation of inclusions (especially compound oxide), including alkali earth metals that are to be represented by CaO-SiO<SB>2</SB>, while avoiding inconveniences due to the generation of SiO<SB>2</SB>gel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When inclusions are to be extracted from a steel product, the steel product is inserted in a bromine-methanol solution and melted. After residues are filtered out by treating an acquired substance containing inclusions with an ammonium hydrogen fluoride solution, the inclusions contained in the substance containing the inclusions are extracted and evaluated.
