<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR control device of an internal combustion engine capable of improving an exhaust gas characteristic, and capable of restraining a combustion sound, by properly controlling EGR, by setting the target EGR ratio in response to an actual combustion state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This EGR control device 1 of the internal combustion engine 3 is provided for controlling the EGR based on the set target EGR ratio KEGRCMD, and has a target EGR ratio setting means 2 for setting the target EGR ratio KEGRCMD to the predetermined upper limit value EGRLMT, when an ignition delay deviation DSF is a threshold value DSFREF or more, by setting the target EGR ratio KEGRCMD so that an actual ignition delay SFACT becomes a target ignition delay SFCMD when the ignition delay deviation DSF is smaller than the predetermined threshold value DSFREF, by calculating a deviation between the actual ignition delay SFACT of expressing a combustion state in a cylinder 3b detected by using cylinder internal pressure PCYL and the set target ignition delay SFCMD, as an ignition delay deviation DSF.
