PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which has high amorphousness and solubility in solvents, and allows maintenance of high performances in an organic electroluminescent device obtained even by using the compound in an organic layer formed according to a wet film-forming method. SOLUTION: A benzodithiophene-based compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1to R6represent each independently a hydrogen atom or substituent, with the proviso that any of R1and R6, R2and R5, and R3and R4are not the same).
