Method for Preparing Personal Care Composition Comprising Surfactant and High Melting Point Fatty Compound

Disclosed is a method of preparing a personal care composition, comprising the steps: (1) preparing a hot oil phase comprising the surfactant and the high melting point fatty compound; (2) preparing a cold aqueous phase comprising the aqueous carrier; and (3) mixing the oil phase and the aqueous phase to form an emulsion; wherein the mixing step (3) comprises the following steps: (3-1) feeding either of the oil phase or the aqueous phase into a high shear field having an energy density of 1.0×102 J/m3 or more; (3-2) feeding the other phase directly to the field; and (3-3) forming an emulsion. The method further requires that: mixing step (3) is conducted using a homogenizer having a rotating member; surfactant is mono-alkyl cationic surfactant and composition is substantially free of di-alkyl cationic surfactants; and oil phase contains from 0 to 50% of an aqueous carrier by weight of the oil phase.
