The electronic stabilization and ignition aid (10) is connected with electrodes (3,5) of a fluorescent lamp (1) by two connections (20,21). A controllable alternating current switch (14) is arranged between the two connections. Two controllable direct current switches (12,13) are arranged in series between the two connections. A capacitor (15) is connected with its terminal at the connection point of both direct current switches.
