<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification catalyst showing excellent purification performance even in the case of not containing no noble metals, as its indispensable component, its production method and an exhaust gas purification catalyst using the purification catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The purification catalyst includes a catalyst powder having an oxygen-releasing material containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, yttrium and scandium and a transition metal oxide containing at least one transition element selected from the group consisting of manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel and copper. The transition metal oxide is supported on the surface of the oxygen-releasing material or forms a solid solution together with the oxygen-releasing material. The transition metal oxide and the oxygen-releasing material thus coexist in a circular region of 5 nm in diameter on the optional surface or section of the catalyst powder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
