PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire dramatically improving on-ice performance by appropriately forming a tread pattern. SOLUTION: A small block group G<SB>B</SB>with a plurality of independent small blocks 3 demarcated by grooves 2 densely arranged respectively, is arranged at least in a part of a tread part 1, and a block row or a land part row are formed by the small blocks 3 of the small block group G<SB>B</SB>. When the reference pitch length of the small blocks 3 is regarded as PL (mm), the width of the small block group as W (mm), the number of small blocks 3 existing in the reference zone of the small block group demarcated by the reference pitch length PL and the width W as a (pieces), and a negative rate in the reference zone as N(%), a small block number density D per unit actual ground-contact area of the small block group expressed by a/(PL×W×(1-N/100)) falls within 0.003-0.04 (pcs/mm<SP>2</SP>).
