PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose cavitation which occurs in fluid pressure loss parts in equipment or facilities for handling fluid. SOLUTION: The fluctuation magnitude p1 of upstream-side fluid pressure P1 of a regulating valve 1 within a predetermined period T is calculated. The fluctuation magnitude p2 of downstream-side fluid pressure P2 of the regulating valve 1 within a predetermined period T is calculated. The calculated fluctuation magnitude p1 of the upstream-side fluid pressure is compared with the fluctuation magnitude p2 of the downstream-side fluid pressure. If the fluctuation magnitude p2 of the downstream-side fluid pressure is larger than the fluctuation magnitude p1 of the upstream-side fluid pressure, it is determined that the cavitation has occurred in the regulating valve 1.
