<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and method using an SMA actuator capable of enhancing responsiveness without increasing a current consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The control device 100 for controlling a position of a movable member by the SMA actuator 44 includes an initial value computer 125 for computing an initial value of a control value corresponding to an initial voltage to be applied to a shape memory alloy, based on a target position. The control device 100 applys the initial voltage corresponding to the initial value to the shape memory alloy, when starting the control. The initial value computer 125 finds the initial value, for example, according to a prescribed function of increasing gradually the initial value when the target position gets high.
