<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and environmentally friendly production method of phenol. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing phenol includes oxidizing benzene in the presence of a vanadium complex-including zeolite catalyst that includes zeolite and a vanadium complex included therein, a saccharide as a reducing agent, a solvent and molecular oxygen. The vanadium complex is inhibited from eluting into a reaction liquid by inclusion in zeolite of the vanadium complex used as the catalyst. As the vanadium complex-including zeolite catalyst still holds the vanadium complex after the reaction, it can be filtered out and washed to be reutilized. The use of a saccharide as the reducing agent permits ready disposal of waste liquid, and the method is environmentally friendly. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
