<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide printing equipment, which can easily detect the width-wise shift of a printing tape and, at the same time, can print under the state that the shift has been corrected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this printing equipment, the actual position of a tape end 79 is detected with a device 200 for detecting the position of the tape end. Then, a difference between the detected value and the pre-set reference position of the tape end is calculated and the printing position is corrected by employing the difference as a correction value. The device 200 for detecting the position of the tape end includes: a sensor part 230; a contactor 221 to be in contact with the tape end 79 of the printing tape 67; and alight shielding part 223 pivoting by accompanying the pivoting of the contactor 221. The sensor part 230 is an optical sensor. The pivoting passage of the light shielding part 223 is located in the light path of the sensor part 230. As the pivoting amount of the light shielding part 223 depends upon the position of the tape end 79, the light receiving amount of the sensor part 230 depends upon the position of the tape end 79.
