PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting the hot dimensions of a rough-shape material when hot-rolling a ring and making the application in hot to the design of the rough-shaped material possible. SOLUTION: This method has: a stage where the specified cooling easiness of the rough-shaped material is determined from the surface area of the rough-shaped material, the volume of the same and the average thickness of the same; a stage where the end temperature of the rolling is determined from the starting temperature of the rolling and the specified cooling easiness of the rough-shaped material; a stage where the percentage of contraction is determined from the end temperature of the rolling and the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the rough-shaped material and a stage where the design of the rough-shaped material or the design of the die is performed by using the determined percentage of contraction.
