PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand drying device reducing a heat loss resulting from heat radiation from a heat storage part 7 at no hand drying operation while making blowing air raised hot at a start of the hand drying operation. SOLUTION: A body of the hand drying device includes a drying chamber 1 which the hands can be inserted into or drawn from, a nozzle 2 for blowing air inside the chamber 1, a blowing means 4 for sucking air from a suction inlet 3 to blow it to the nozzle 2 and a heating means 5 for heating the air blowing from the blowing means 4. Providing the body with a person detecting means 6 for detecting existence of a person near the body and the heat storage part 7 for storing heat in the heating means 5 makes heat storage only when the person is detected by the detecting means 6, thereby makes no unnecessary heat storage or radiation. At hand drying operation, the detecting means 6 previously detects the operation to make the storage part 7 store heat, thereby while making the blowing air raised hot at a start of the operation, allowing the device to reduce the heat loss resulting from the radiation from the storage part 7 at no operation.
