摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a light receiving element to be used for both imaging and auto-focusing without requiring a focus detecting circuit. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element 10 that receives light from an object image formed by an imaging lens 1, and a focus detecting filter 84 that can be inserted into or retracted from the imaging lens 1 near the imaging element 10. The focus detection filter 84 includes, in order from the imaging lens 1 side: a visual field diaphragm 2 having a plurality of openings; a condenser lens 4 disposed near a focus detection area on the surface of the view field diaphragm 2; a pupil division diaphragm 5 having a pair of apertures arranged with spacing between them so as to ensure focusing accuracy corresponding to the aperture of the view field diaphragm 2; and a re-imaging lens group having a plurality of re-imaging lenses disposed so as to correspond to the apertures of each of the pupil division diaphragm 5. While the focus detection filter 84 is inserted in an imaging optical path, focus detection is carried out by detecting a phase difference of an output signal indicating light intensity distribution obtained from the imaging element 10.
