<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a malfunction of a storage device, and to select control for malfunction prevention more flexibly. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A television receiver 1 incorporates an HDD 23 for recording and playing back received contents. Further, the television receiver 1 includes a volume control section 18 for controlling a volume value of sound to be output from a loudspeaker 14, and an OSD signal generating section 19 for generating an OSD signal displaying a warning screen on a video display section 13. When the volume value designated from a remote controller 4 or an operating section 20 is greater than a volume threshold stored in a storage part 18a of the volume control section 18 and it is discriminated that the HDD 23 is under operating, the HDD 23 is controlled or the volume value is controlled by the volume control section 18.
