<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycondensation catalyst that can give polyester, preventing increase in filtration pressure due to foreign matter caused by a catalyst, reducing contamination on a mold during molding, resulting in good spinning property and having excellent thermal stability and color tone of polymers compared to conventional products, and to provide a polyester production method using the catalyst. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The polyester polycondensation catalyst is obtained by reacting a titanium compound with tripentaerythritol in a molar ratio of titanium atoms to tripentaerytyritol of 1:1 to 1:2.
