The character input device using a circular keyboard arrangement of the present invention comprises an input part wherein both a first direction input that selects any one from a plurality of first direction indicating locations that are isolated and positioned radially around a reference location, with said reference location being defined within an input radius furnished at a certain location on a base, and a second direction input that selects any one from a plurality of second direction indicating locations that are isolated and positioned radially within said input part are provided so that they can be executed independently of each other; a first sensing part that senses said first direction input; a second sensing part that senses said second direction input; a character display part wherein a first character is arranged at a location corresponding to said first direction indicating location, a second character is arranged at a location corresponding to said second direction indicating location, and a derived character is displayed that is derived either from said first character assigned at said first direction input or said second character assigned at said second direction input when either said first direction input or said second direction input has been executed; a controller part wherein said first character assigned at said first direction indicating location where said first direction input has been sensed, said second character assigned at said second indicating location where said second direction input has been sensed, or said derived character that has been assigned by continuously executing said first direction input and said second direction input, is extracted from a memory part and displayed. |
