A strobe device includes a strobe light discharge tube (2); an IGBT (4) for controlling the light emission start/stop of the strobe light discharge tube (2); a light emission control circuit (6) for causing the IGBT (4) to perform on/off operations; and a first-stage gate discharge circuit (13) capable of correcting the light emission time period from the light emission start to the light emission stop of the strobe light discharge tube (2).  Consequently, the light amount of the light emission can be controlled without the need for taking into account the tolerances of the constituent elements related to the light emission of the strobe light discharge tube (2).
