The device has a transverse supporting element i.e. cross bar (3) provided within a belt rotating unit, while a repair need location of a metal belt (1) i.e. steel belt, is movable to a location of the transverse supporting element. A repair supporting unit (4) is movable along the transverse supporting element to the repair need location of the metal belt for supporting the metal belt against the repair supporting unit to implement necessary repairing measures outside the belt rotating unit. A clamping device (5) is provided for welding outside the belt rotating unit.
