PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to prevent the malfunction of an ice maker due to the raising of temperature by turning off a heater which is operated to separating ice in an ice making tray with detecting the temperature around the ice making tray. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises: an ice maker(190) which includes an ice making tray and a heater which is operated to separate ice which is formed in the ice making tray; an ice bank(195) which stores the ice which is discharged from the ice making tray; and a controller which allows the heater to turn off if the temperature around the ice making tray is higher than a first preset temperature and allows the heater to turn on if the temperature around the ice making tray is lower than a second preset temperature after the heater is turned off.
