PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oceanic aromatic substance which has a novel olfactory characteristic, can give a special olfactory character and a special aspect to compositions of aroma materials. SOLUTION: A flavoring- and/or aromatic substance mixture comprises one or more 4-(8-12C)-alkylpyridines and one or more other flavoring- and/or aromatic substances, where preferably the 4-(8-12C)-alkyl pyridine is 4-n-(8-12C)-alkylpyridine, specially preferably 4-n-octylpyridine, 4-n-nonylpyridine, 4-n-decylpyridine, 4-n-undecylpyridine and/or 4-n-dodecylpyridine, and is characterized by being selected from the group consisting of one or more mixtures of these substances.
