<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network virtual storage system that eliminates the need for a client terminal that specifies a swap destination auxiliary storage node, and that prevents a change or a load from being imposed on a process, and for improving the performance, in terms of capacity and speed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A client terminal 101, a transmission device 103, and an auxiliary storage node 105 loaded with a storage device 151 are connected to a network. Swap target page data are arranged in an auxiliary storage node 105 connected to the network, and the swap target page data are managed by a transmission device 103, and a swap request whose quantity exceeds the available capacity of the client terminal is made. It is possible to efficiently attain swapping, whose quantity exceeds the swapp region which can be secured on the client terminal, without having to take into consideration the physical configurations of the auxiliary storage device or of the layout over the network.
