<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding comfort by absorbing driving shock caused by irregularities on a road surface while a seat is securely fastened to a body during harvesting operation, harvesting control is facilitated, and the seat is soft and supported on the body with a suspension during traveling on a footpath. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A seat support mechanism (27) switchable between an elastic support condition and a fixed support condition is provided at the bottom of a seat (1) of a riding type work machine. Either of a front side and a rear side of the seat (1) is pivotally supported on the body side with a cross shaft (3), and a striking plate (23) receiving another base plate (2) of the seat (1) is switchably provided in a spring bearing (5) or a fixed bearing (7) to form the seat support mechanism (27).
