The unit has a battery cell body surrounded by a foil system, where the unit is designed in a square shape. The foil system has a gluing substance or adhesive aluminum-battery pouch foil for adhesion of the cell body with cooling components in an area-wise at an adhesive side that is turned away from the cell body, where the cooling component is designed as an aluminum plate and provided with cooling fins. The adhesive pouch foil is covered by a separation foil and utilized as a moisture barrier. The foil system has plastic layers on sides of the adhesive pouch foil. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing the energy storage unit.
