The invention relates to the timber industry, in particular to forest machines, and can be used for limbing trees and skidding tree trunks in order to subsequently cut them into logs. The essence of the invention is that the hydraulic ram of a multipurpose hydraulic manipulator for wood raw material, which manipulator is part of a mechanized system for transversely cutting tree trunks, is designed so that it can additionally be rotated in a horizontal plane about its own vertical axis owing to the fact that it is mounted, together with a hinge and a hydraulic cylinder, on a common rotating platform which can move in a horizontal plane, for example by an additional hydraulic cylinder disposed on a fixed platform. In the second variant, the essence of the invention is that a roller conveyor which is part of a mechanized system for transversely cutting tree trunks is additionally provided with bidirectional kickers for dropping logs directly into wood bunks, thereby eliminating the need to move said logs using cross conveyors. The tree trunks are oriented towards three areas, the first of which is for logs with a diameter of 38 cm or more, the second is for logs with a diameter ranging from 28 to 38 cm, and the third is for logs with a diameter ranging from 18 to 28 cm; furthermore, the logs produced are dropped into the wood bunks and stored so that each wood bunk contains logs of the same diameter.
