<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency or the like of assembling work efficiency in a direct backlight for a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight has support substrates for supporting point light source elements for each small region of a plurality of small regions into which a plurality of point light source elements facing a liquid crystal display panel are divided; a frame member FR holding the support substrates; and a drive means. A support means has a first support means LP1 connected to the drive means through a cable, and a second support means LP2, and has a direct cable CB1 for connecting the first support substrate directly to the drive means, and an indirect cable CB2 for connecting the first support means to the second support means. The first and second support means have connectors for connecting the indirect cable. The indirect cable and the connectors CN2, CN3 are arranged at the frame member side of the support substrates, and the frame member is formed with an opening 2 or a recess corresponding to the indirect cable and the connectors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
