<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing not only luminance reduction in a liquid crystal display but also whiteness of a display part due to an external light. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10 includes a liquid crystal panel 15, a colored light source 11 emitting light from a rear surface of the liquid crystal panel 15 and a light absorbing layer 13 disposed between the liquid crystal panel 15 and the colored light source 11 and absorbing light in a wavelength region having a complementary relation to colored light emitted from the colored light source 11 instead of light in a wavelength region of the colored light.
