PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method, that can easily identify a desired photographing target from a subject image. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: photographing units 101, 102, 103, 104 that obtain the image data of a subject image through an imaging lens; a photographing position information obtaining unit 130 that obtains first position information about photographing positions; a subject position information obtaining unit 140 that obtains second position information about the subject position of a main subject; a photographing direction information obtaining unit 150 that obtains photographing direction information about the photographing direction of the imaging lens; a positional relationship calculating unit 110 that calculates the positional relationship with the main subject based on the first position information and the second position information; and a main subject image position calculating unit 110 that calculates the position of the main subject image of the subject image based on the calculated positional relationship with the main subject and the imaging direction of the imaging lens.
