<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a warning device of which the warning display abounds in variation and which facilitates grasping of the situation of excess of speed for a driver. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This warning device is carried on board a vehicle and issues the driver a warning that a vehicle speed exceeds the speed limit. The device includes a vehicle speed sensor 210, which detects the vehicle speed of the vehicle; a navigation system part 800, which acquires information relating to the speed limit of a road on which the vehicle runs; a penalty information acquiring part which acquires penalty information regarding penal regulations from the relation between the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor 210 and the speed limit acquired by the navigation system part 800; and an interface part 600, which displays a difference amount corresponding to the difference between the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor 210 and the speed limit acquired by the navigation system part 800, a speed limit value and the penalty information.
