<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control device of a diesel engine capable of improving exhaust gas performance, by performing combustion control based on a proper combustion rate corresponding to an operation state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the operation state of an engine is transitional operation or a combustion state is ordinary diesel combustion and an after-burning determining period is larger than an after-burning allowable threshold value, reference MFB is set to the reference MFB latter period (S4), and when the combustion state is premixed combustion or the ordinary diesel combustion and the after-burning determining period is the after-burning allowable threshold value or less, the reference MFB is set to the reference MFB first period (S6), and the combustion control is performed based on an MFB angle.
