<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device allowing easy operation to regulate a push-pull operating member and to release the regulation in order to prevent erroneous motion of push-pull operating members such as push buttons during non-use. <P>SOLUTION: In a wristwatch (portable device) 11, a push button (push-pull operating member) 27 includes an engaging portion 30, and the push button 27 is mounted on a watch sheath (device sheath) 12. A stopper 54 is arranged on the watch sheath 12. The stopper 54 is movable between a locked position where the push button 27 is held at a predetermined position by engagement with the engaging portion 30 and an unlocked position where the operation of the push button 27 is allowed. A circular operating ring 61 surrounding a dial (display portion) 14 mounted on the watch sheath 12 is rotatably mounted on the watch sheath 12 from the front side thereof.
