摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently reduce and remove NOx stored in an NOx storage reduction catalyst on engine stop. <P>SOLUTION: In an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine equipped with an NOx storage reduction catalyst 13 in an engine exhaust passage and a fuel addition valve 16 which enriches an air fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into the NOx storage reduction catalyst 13 by adding fuel in an exhaust passage 12, an engine stop process stops fuel supply into a combustion chamber when engine stop demand is issued. While fuel is added from the fuel addition valve 16 during the engine stop process, fuel addition timing is set so that an exhaust gas portion in a rich air-fuel ratio formed at this time stays in the NOx storage reduction catalyst 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
