PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus to be operated by an input of an operation key as well as an input at a position in the space above the operation key.

SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: a key operation section 11 that has one or more operation keys arranged in a planer form, and outputs a key operation output corresponding to an operation of an operation key; a sensor means 10 that outputs a detection output corresponding to a distance between a surface with the operation keys of the key operation section 11 arranged thereon and an object spatially separated therefrom; and a detection means that detects the distance between the object and the surface on the basis of the detection output from a sensor means 20. A control section validates only the key operation output corresponding to the operation of the operation key and invalidates the detection output of the sensor when the detected distance is less than a predetermined distance, and executes a control function according to the distance detected by the detection section when the detected distance is equal to or greater than the predetermined distance.
