The invention relates to a device in a tubular heat exchanger (1) particularly intended for products containing fibres or particles. The device comprises a product flow insert (5) consisting of a number of heat transfer tubes (3) with a tube plate (6) fixedly secured in each end (10) of these heat transfer tubes (3). In order that fibres and particles pass the tube plates (6) without being accumulated in an undesirable manner, at least that one of the tube plates (6) which constitutes the inlet to the heat transfer tubes (3) is provided with flow distributors (11) which have a convex surface facing towards the flow direction and which have a portion (12) which partly covers the inlets to the heat transfer tubes (3).
