LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND INFORMATION DISPLAY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing not only luminance reduction in a liquid crystal display but also whiteness of a display part due to an external light.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10 includes a liquid crystal panel 15 and a colored light source 11 emitting light from a rear surface of the liquid crystal panel 15. The liquid crystal panel 15 includes a first polarizing plate 16 disposed on the colored light source 11 side, a second polarizing plate 18 disposed on a display part side and a liquid crystal cell 17 disposed between the polarizing plates 16 and 18. At least one polarizing plate of the polarizing plates 16 and 18 is a colored polarizing plate absorbing light in a wavelength region having a complementary relation to colored light emitted from the colored light source 11 instead of light in a wavelength region of the colored light.
