<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mountability of a reservoir on a cylinder body when applying a master cylinder with a built-in stroke simulator to a vehicle in which a cowl part of the vehicle body extends above the reservoir. <P>SOLUTION: To a front site of a cylinder inner hole 10a of the cylinder body 10, a stroke simulator piston 21 and a simulator part spring 22 for energizing it rearward are attached. To a rear site of the cylinder inner hole 10a of the cylinder body 10, master cylinder pistons 31, 41, master cylinder part springs 32, 42 for energizing them rearward, and positioning mechanisms 60, 70 for specifying the initial positions of the master cylinder pistons 31, 41 are attached. The reservoir R to be attached above the cylinder body 10 has a leg portion Re under an introduction part having a filling port Rd.
