PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rope that is excellent in bending fatigue durability even under the condition such as a high load, a long distance, or a long stroke, and suppresses the deformation, the pop-out of a core wire, or the like. SOLUTION: The wire rope includes a core wire and side wires twisted around the core wire. The core wire has an outer diameter 0.8 or more times that of the side wire and the wire rope has a tightening ratio of not less than 15% and not more than 120% as calculated from the following formula: the tightening ratio=ä1-(b-2×c)/a}×100 wherein (a) denotes an outer diameter of the core wire; b denotes a shaping length of the side wire; and c denotes an outer diameter of the side wire.
