PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method, capable of reducing red eye generated by the influence of a light emitting part in an image obtained by photographing and expressing eyes closer to original color components. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an image signal processing part for generating a first image signal for a still image on the basis of electric signals converted in a first imaging element and a second image signal for the still image at the same timing as the first image signal on the basis of electric signals converted in a second imaging element when main photographing of the still image is executed; an extraction part for extracting the color component of the eye part of an object from the first image signal and the second image signal and determining the color configuration of the color component of the eye part; and a recording control part for recording, in a recording medium, either one of the first image signal and the second image signal with less red component among the extracted color components of the eye part generated on the basis of light by the light emitting part.
