PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate type heat exchanger maintaining a pressure contact state of gaskets with respect to heat transfer plates and keeping a good sealing state between the heat transfer plates, even when a large fluid pressure is applied to the gaskets defining a flow passage where a heat exchanging medium or a heat exchanged medium is made to flow and the heat transfer plates and the gaskets are thermally expanded. SOLUTION: The plate type heat exchanger includes: the plurality of heat transfer plates; and the gaskets interposed between the heat transfer plates. In each of the heat transfer plates, recesses and projections are formed alternately, and gasket fitting grooves to which the gasket is fitted are formed on at least one face. The flow passage where the heat exchanging medium or heat exchanged medium is made to flow is formed between the heat transfer plates. In each of the heat transfer plates, a regulation projection for regulating displacement of the gasket is formed between the gasket fitting groove and the recess located in the position different from the position supported with respect to the adjacent heat transfer plate.
