<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radar system for accurately calculating the directions of targets and the number of targets. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A direction calculation section 32 has a covariance matrix addition prohibiting section 33 for prohibiting the addition of a covariance matrix created from a peak frequency spectrum where the peak frequency is close to 0 when the peak frequency in a plurality of modulating zones of the targets 40 is close to 0. The direction calculation section 32 calculates the directions of the targets 40 based on the addition covariance matrix to which the covariance matrix created from the peak frequency spectrum where the peak frequency is outside the proximity of 0 is added.
