PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifocal intraocular lens which permits a multifocal effect to be well obtained without depending on the diameter of a pupil. SOLUTION: In the multifocal intraocular lens having an optical section converging light on the retina and a supporting section fixing the optical section within an eye, and having a first optical area having a first refractive power and a second optical area having a second refractive power different from the first refractive power in the optical section, the optical section is divided into a plurality of areas by borderlines extending to the geometric center from the periphery. The lens has the first optical area having the first refractive power and forming a plurality of small grooves in a first pattern in a prescribed area from among a plurality of divided areas and the second optical area as another area formed adjacently to the first optical area, and forming a plurality of small grooves in a second pattern different from the first pattern to obtain the second refractive power to be a refractive power different from the first optical area.
